Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Medminder Companion LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects the information you provide when using the MedMinder Companion app ("the App").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Account information: name, email address, and password (encrypted)
• Health profiles: names, dates of birth, allergies, medical conditions, medications, and related health information for you and any family members you add
• Insurance card photos and profile photos you upload
• Doctor and pharmacy information you enter
• Emergency contact information

Information collected automatically:

• Basic usage data such as when you log in (via Firebase Authentication logs)
• We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioral tracking of any kind

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to:

• Authenticate your account and keep it secure
• Sync your health profiles and medication data across your devices
• Enable family sharing features when you choose to use them
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
• Process subscription payments through Stripe (payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and never stored by us)

We do not use your health data for advertising, research, machine learning training, or any purpose other than operating the App for your personal use.

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Storage), which provides enterprise-grade security including:

• Encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL)
• Access controls — only you (and family members you explicitly invite) can access your health profiles
• Hosted in Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States

Your PIN is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

4. Sensitive Health Information

We recognize that the information stored in MedMinder Companion — medications, medical conditions, DNR status, disability information — is highly sensitive. We treat it with the strictest care:

• Health data is never shared with third parties except as required to operate the App (e.g., Firebase cloud infrastructure)
• We do not sell, license, or monetize your health data in any form
• Health data is never used to train AI or machine learning models

5. Emergency Access (ICE) Feature

If you enable the Emergency Access feature, a summary of your medical information becomes viewable without login from the app's login screen. This is an opt-in feature designed for first responders. You control what appears in this view by choosing to enable it in Settings. You can disable it at any time.

6. Family Sharing

If you use family sharing, the family members you invite will have access to the shared health profiles. You are responsible for ensuring that everyone included in your family group has consented to their information being shared within that group.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the App. Upon deletion:

• Your Firestore data is permanently deleted
• Your uploaded photos are permanently deleted from Firebase Storage
• Your Firebase Authentication account is removed

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and photo storage (Firebase Privacy Policy)
• Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions. Stripe handles all payment card data; we never see or store your card details (Stripe Privacy Policy)
• Netlify — web hosting

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or behavioral tracking services.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for use by adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Adults may store health profiles for their minor children within their own account.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data stored in your account (it's all visible in the App)
• Correct or update your information at any time in the App
• Delete your account and all data permanently
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
